George & Sandra - Little Britain USA

George and Sandra are an older British couple played by David Walliams and Matt Lucas on the HBO spin-off show Little Britain USA. The characters appear in a series of sketches called "Forty Glorious Years" based on their visit to America to celebrate their 40th Wedding Anniversary. From the outset it is clear their marriage has major issues. Apparently, their love for each other has weakened over the years to the point that they live permanently in an awkward silence. Sandra remains motionless and completely silent when George tries to make conversation. She does utter the word "ornithophobic" in one sketch to remind George of her fear of birds. George's polite attempts to connect with his wife are always futile. Inevitably he ends up becoming angry and verbally abusive towards her. It is clear that their love died a long time ago...
