Garry Maddox

Garry Lee Maddox was born on September 1, 1949 in Cincinnati, Ohio and is a former professional baseball player. He is widely considered to be one of the best-fielding outfielders ever based on his years playing Major League Baseball. Broadcaster Harry Kalas once remarked, "Two-thirds of the Earth is covered by water, the other one-third is covered by Garry Maddox." Maddox was a 8x Gold Glove Award winner (1975, 1976, 1977, 1978, 1979, 1980, 1981, 1982) and a World Series champion with the Philadelphia Phillies in 1980. He retired in 1986 and won the Roberto Clemente Award the same year.
